Starting a church from the ground up can present its fair share of obstacles. Our aim is to bring those situations to light, in a humorous way, while exemplifying what a church should be. It’s not about HOW many people attend, it’s about glorifying God, and discipling those who DO attend.
Series Overview
Sunday Best is a faith-based mockumentary set in a tight-knit southern town, where a mismatched group of church members must rebuild their struggling congregation after the pastor and most of the attendees suddenly leave. As they face internal doubts, local opposition, and a changing culture, the group navigates heartfelt challenges and comedic mishaps in their mission to restore the church. Blending humor, heart, and hope, Sunday Best explores the power of community, second chances, and spiritual growth in the unlikeliest of places.

Our goal with Sunday Best is to reflect what the church body is truly meant to be—imperfect people, coming together in faith, strengthening one another through Jesus Christ. It’s a little messy at times, but that’s where the beauty of real community shines.

The creator, writer, and producer of the award-winning short film SwordPlay. Known for his sharp wit, heart-driven storytelling, and eye for character, Matty brings a unique blend of humor and sincerity to his work. He is currently developing Sunday Best, a faith-based dramedy set in small-town Texas that explores second chances, community, and the beautiful mess of church life.

We will shoot what we can out of the pilot and create promotional content until we make gain enough funds to come back and continue filming.
